Strictly, this is not a travel post. The Rose of Sharon is the national flower of Korea. It is an enchanting shrub, with an exquisite flower:

Call me a dreamer if you choose. I can see the source of origami in these flowers, along with the delicate colouring and the soft brush strokes of so much of Korean artwork. At a push, I can see the folds of a fan.

his plant also grows in tree form, although these trees may well be bushes that have been encouraged to form a tree.
