Korea 2011: The home and final resting place of Jeong Yak-yong

After our barbeque, one of Dani's colleagues took us to the home and final resting place of Jeong Yak-yong, one of Korea's revered philosophical leaders and thinkers during the late Joseon dynasty.  There is an excellent article on this great thinker on wikipedia.  The functionality and pragmatic approach to living which is a hallmark of modern South Korea can no doubt be attributed to influences from this great man.

A legend about him and his home
Here are some of the displays that one can see:
The man, himself

He as an author of renown

He was a designer of practical things
A view of the shrine to him from below
A flue to release steam from the underwater heating in his home
Kimchi pots and a well
