After our barbeque, one of Dani's colleagues took us to the home and final resting place of Jeong Yak-yong, one of Korea's revered philosophical leaders and thinkers during the late Joseon dynasty. There is an excellent article on this great thinker on wikipedia. The functionality and pragmatic approach to living which is a hallmark of modern South Korea can no doubt be attributed to influences from this great man.
